Pretty Pretty Penguin Valentine's Card

I love these cute stamped penguins! They are so cute and add such a lovely touch to everything - this is a stamp set that I've used so much and I'll be glad to use again.

So to make this stamp set, first I stamped my pretty little penguin with black ink and used Tri-Blend markers to color her in. I colored her hat and balloon in with pink, yellow for her feet and for her body, I colored in the sketches with true blue for a fun look.

Next, for the fun "wonky" look, I pulled out the stamp of the month set and stamped tone on tone - so that means that on the Raspberry cardstock, I stamped in raspberry ink. I took a strip of Raspberry paper left over from another project that was 1/2" wide and 12 inches long and just repeated the arrows over and over again. Then I took a piece of White Daisy cardstock and cut it out with the stitched scallop thin cut die and using the same raspberry ink I second generation stamped the hearts. Second generation means I stamped it first on a piece of scrap paper and then on the item so that the ink applied is less vivid on the final stamped image. I did the same using the doodles and charcoal ink, before finally stamping the sentiment in first generation raspberry ink.

Every month Close to my Heart has a special stamp set available, the Stamp of the Month and it's exclusive to that month only. It can be purchased at full retail price $18.95 or at a discount of $5 if you have a qualifying purchase of $50 or more. With the CTMH VIP program, you can get the stamp set free with purchase, so that's pretty neat too - let me know if you are interested in the VIP reward program, I can let you know the details.

On the 1/2" raspberry borders, I took my scissors and ran them across the edges of the paper to create a roughed up looking border. The white center of the cardstock showed through and really looks neat. I took a few scraps from the Perfect Match paper and adhered them to a card base, and then adhered the raspberry borders, making sure to switch the direction for each section I put down.

I popped my pretty, pretty penguin on the card using 3-d foam tape and then for a final embellishment on the card, I used the perfect match mini hearts and glued them on the card in various spots, dotting the glue down first and then picking up a gummy heart and attaching it to the card for a fun effect.

This card went together so quickly, and used up so many spare parts - it's perfect for a quick Valentine's Day card! Here's a list of the products used, please do reach out and let me know if you have any questions! Thanks & stay crafty!
