The workshop kits from CTMH usually come with several card designs already, so I love it when I come up with a great alternative card design they didn't already have. So this fun workshop has a cake slice that will pull out and on the cake slice it says "happy birthday to you." I really love this cute little interactive cake so I had to try and use it as much as possible!
So first you'll want to cut out the Cake Day hat using a Cricut or electronic die cutting machine. If that's intimidating, I'd suggest finding another birthday stamp and just stamp it and use as the third circle.
Attach the cake day slimline circle piece to the slimline card base, and adhere the cut out circles so that the stripes are going diagonally.
Stamp the sweetest sentiment on a piece of White Daisy and attach the zip strip from the Cake Day paper to the sides. Then dovetail the White Daisy piece. I used the thin cuts to trim the edge of the dovetail and cut out 4 candles and the cake element. I also cut a 3" circle out of Wild Berry card stock.
Then it really is mostly assembling the card together - attach the party hat (or stamped image) in the third circle using a 3-d foam dot. I attached the cake, making sure to put the 3-D foam dots where it wouldn't interfere with the interactive element of the cake, to the Wild Berry circle and then attached the circle directly to the card base.
I did trim a couple of the candles down so that they wouldn't stick out under the dovetail sentiment too much. And I finished them off by putting some bisque yellow liquid pearls as the flames of the candles. Embellish with Wild Berry Enamel Dots and set aside to dry.
So these bright cheerful Cake Day papers are available in the March and April CTMH catalogs, which means that after the catalog ends, they are available only as long as the supply holds out. These are such adorable papers and so useful that I will be surprised if they last long, so if you have had your eye on them you may consider getting them soon! But not to worry - May Day brings us a shower of new things, so be sure to check back again!
