I made these fun Super Party Girl invites for a little party - as an added bonus, they were perfect for a fun challenge on the Color My Heart Color Dare - challenge #279. The color dare was to make a card using only Pacifica, Canary and Cranberry (and you could use an "optional" gold, but they wanted only the three colors.
Which was perfect - the design on the back of the card kinda mimics Wonder Woman's colors, which are actually really close to CTMH's colors - Pacifica, Canary and Cranberry!
So the first thing I did was cut the background color bands. So first I cut a 4" x 5.25" rectangle of all three colors. Then I used my papercutter to cut all three first about a third of the way down the page on the left side, then I went down another inch or so and did a second cut that matched the first cut. Then I flipped the paper over and made the cuts on the right side of the paper and cut enough to match up the two cuts - so that way the three colors would match up perfectly. As an added bonus, now I have the same colors in different color combinations for other cards! So then I glued down the colors onto my card base.
I wanted to use tone-on-tone stamping for the sentiments to keep everything as close to the same bold blocky look as possible, so I stamped Pacifica ink on the Pacifica paper and Cranberry ink on the Cranberry paper. It is subtle, and if I wanted the sentiment to stand out more, I could have used black ink or embossed in white.
So I used the thin cuts die and cut out both shapes out of white cardstock scraps and stamped the Wow in Cranberry ink and I used Memento Black for Supergirl.
Since I knew I was going to be coloring them in with the watercolor pencils, I used Memento - any time you use any kind of liquid on stamped images you need to use either Memento or Archival Black ink so that the ink doesn't smear. On the wow, I wanted some red streaks in the burst coloring to make it look more like an explosion, so when I used the clear Shimmer Brush on it, I made sure to pick up some of that color and spread it around a little bit. I used foam dots to pop up Super girl and I put some liquid Nuvo dots on for interest - I love the gold accent!
I hope you enjoyed the card as much as I enjoyed putting it together - now on to make 20 more!
